Congratulations to senior women's Cowgirl basketball player Briana Burgins who was named to the NCCA West All-star team this summer. Briana will represent SWGHS on the West team on Monday, July 21st at the Greensboro Coliseum with some of the best women's basketball players in the state.

SW Guilford High School senior all-purpose player Rick Mack was selected as Player of the week by the Greensboro Rotary Club. Rick and Coach Rainey will be recognized for Rick's accomplishments at the Sept. 25 Rotary Luncheon. Rick had 202 all purpose yards vs. Ledford in a heart breaking overtime lose 35-41. Congratulations to Rick!

Congratulations to Jaren Rainey for being selected as the Bob Sawyer Rotary Club Week 11 Athlete of the Week! Jaren lead the SW Cowboys over the NW Vikings with a total of 322 All-purpose yards. He was 16/18 with 236 yards passing and gained 86 yards on the ground with 17 rushing attempts. He finished up the night with 1 passing touchdown and 2 rushing touchdowns.

Congratulations to Rick Mack for being awarded the Bob Sawyer Greensboro Rotary Club Offensive Player of the Year. Rick lead all area offensive players with a total of 685 yards rushing, 819 yards receiving and 863 yards in punt and kickoff returns. Rick scored a total of 18 TD's this year for the Cowboys. Rick accepted the award from former NFL Quarterback Joe Theismann of the Washington Redskins.

The Rotary " Bob Sawyer HS Player of the Week" committee has selected Justin Hensley from Southwest HS as this weeks award winner. This weeks winner scored 362 on the SawyerCommittees "coaches grid".
Committee member Eric Perdew will host both the third and fourth week winners @ 12:30 at Greensboro Rotary Clubs meeting on September 25th at The Greensboro Coliseum. Coaches will introduce their players and Coach Sawyer will give the awards.

Andrew Gullickson named to the NCCA East/West Allstar Game
Andrew Gullickson has been selected to play in the NCCA East/West All-star game this summer at UNCG in July. Andrew is a senior mid-fielder and was also named to the NC All-State Team. Andrew is the 13th male soccer player from SW Guilford to be nominated to play in this prestigious event. He follows former SW Guilford professional soccer players Eddie Pope and Clyde Simms.

Congratulations to Austen Zente for signing a grant in aid to play collegiate baseball next year at High Point University. Over his career at SWGHS, Austen has compiled 53 hits, 57 runs, 17 RBI's, 9 doubles, 2 HR's, and stolen 26 bases. Coach Holmes has stated that he is the offensive catalyst for the last two seasons. Austen is the 1st High Point resident to be offered a baseball scholarship since Coach Cozart took over at HPU in 2008.

Peter Becher has had an impressive start to the 2013 wrestling season. Currently he is 17-0 on the season and for the third week in a row Most Valuable Wrestler at our Jim Coggins Dual Team Tournament. Congratulations!

Congratulations to our wrestling team and wrestling individual winners this weekend at Eastern Guilford HS in the Leigh Hebbard Wildcat Invitational Tournament. Adam Moye, Trevor Nuttle, and Peter Becher all won their weight class for the Cowboys. Peter Becher was named Most Outstanding Wrestler for the second week in a row.
