The Cowgirls travel to the Lady Bobcats of Glenn for non conference tennis action

A warm but beautiful evening of play for the Cowgirls.  Only playing once this season v the Bobcats, I sat out most of the top six to challenge up.

Holly Galvin won her second varsity match of the season with an exclamation point.  Never behind in game points, she cruised to 8-0.

Maggie Mugi (early college), also won her second varsity match of the season and earned her varsity letter for her freshman season. Down 0-3 in the beginning, Maggie came over quite worried about her game.  I eased her mind by simply telling her to stand back further on the shots.  Her opponent only scored one more game as Maggie cleaned up 8-4.

Heaven dukes hit deep and high shots on her journey through “Routeville” defeating her opponent 8-2.

Lauren Cook followed suit, moving well around the court, hitting deep and her corners, 8-1.

Abby Lowe took court # 2 8-5, but had a time of it as her feet failed her mid way through the match allowing her opponent a door which she drew closer 6-5….finally moving once more, Abby closed it out with a break and a hold.

Labor Van Dorp had honors on court 1.  Hitting against a bigger, taller, deeper opponent, labor had to rely on good movement around the opponent's shots and short, sideline v deep and long caused great consternation in the Bobcat’s mental game.  Trading shots and serves until 5-4, Lanie was able to pull away from a fatigued Bobcat capping her match 8-4.

Cowgirls take singles 6-0

Bea Caitlin/Alethea Yu partnered on court 3.  The Bobcats only caused a little fuss during one game for as the Cowgirls rolled 8-1.

Morgan Mcguire/Blake Murphy joined forces on court 2 and after a bit of trouble in the opening games, settled in and earned not only a win, but Blake’s 2nd varsity win as well.

Gretchen Cross and Katelyn Leinbach, the Cowgirls number 2 entry into conference tourney in two weeks, had honors of number 1 dubs today.  Holding their own against an already warmed up team, the Cowgirls fought hard, lifted well, and carved their shots around the Bobcats.  This effort was rewarded with an 8-4 victory.
