The Cowboys hit the road for a road conference game against the Golden Eagles of Smith. This Golden Eagles came into tonight looking to get their season headed back in the right direction having come into tonight on a three game skid. The Cowboys came into tonight looking to maintain their unblemished record, as well as stay unbeaten in conference play. The Cowboys open up the scoring is an hour you dunk right off the tip. So despite for some turnovers, Southwest only managed to trade baskets in a sloppy back and forth frame. However the Cowboys were able to end the frame as they opened it, with a Nother dunk to close the quarter up 13-12. The poor shooting continued into the second frame. The Golden Eagles kept responding with baskets of their own. Every time the Cowboys put a couple baskets together, Smith would answer. This time it was Smith who scored before the buzzer to cut Southwest’s lead to 33-30 going into the break. The second half Had the Cowboys start to get a little more efficient on both sides of the ball. Southwest manage to slowly build a lead and maintain it. Solid defense of positions helped the margin stay in double digits as the frame closed at 54-44. The final frame was back-and-forth as the teams traded baskets and small runs. The Cowboys made enough plays In the frame to pull away for a strong 69-55 road conference victory. Smith was led by Nick McMullen with 24 points. Southwest was led by Jayden Turner with (22, 4 Rebs, 2 Stls, Ast), Kobe Langley with (19, 6 Stls, 5 Asts, 2 Rebs, Blk). Christian Martin and Keyshaun Langley we’re both just shy of double doubles. Martin with (6, 10 Rebs, Stl) and Langley with (7, 13 Asts, 4 Stls, 2 Rebs).
