Joey McGinnis

Joey McGinnis III was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the proud single father of three children. His oldest daughter is a Sophomore at Spelman College, Atlanta, GA. This Fall his son will attend & play football for Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA., and his youngest daughter is a rising 6th grader.  

 

Mr. McGinnis is graduate of Walnut Hills High School, Cincinnati, OH. He has undergraduate degrees from the Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia, Dual Degree Program, Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Science and Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia. His advanced studies include a master's degree in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Georgetown University, Washington, DC.  

 

Mr. McGinnis is a resourceful and dynamic leader with over 15+ years of experience in project management, manufacturing, planning & logistics. Enjoying a fulfilling career to include leadership positions at Ford Motor Company, American Express & Ralph Lauren. Mr. McGinnis decided to follow his passion & purpose of educating & coaching by applying & being hired into Guilford County Schools via the GCS-ACT Lateral Entry Program, receiving his full licensure in July 2018.  

 

Coach McGinnis brings 10+ years of coaching experience to Southwest High School (SWHS), including the roles of Southwest MS Head Coach, SWHS Assistant Offensive Line, Running Back & WR Coach and JV Offensive Coordinator. In his first season as the Southwest High School JV Offensive Coordinator, he helped led the team to the 2020 3A Mid-South Conference Championship. 

  

Coach McGinnis is passionate about helping student athletes achieve their dreams in life! Dreams built on hard work in the classroom & on the football field. Coach McGinnis is detailed & analytical in his approach and focused on teachable life lessons that will help student athletes achieve their “passion & purpose”
