Southwest Guilford Cowgirls over Glenn Lady Bobcats 9-0 in tennis action

Quality play from the Cowgirls on their home courts tonight v Glenn Lady Bobcats

Fielding a relatively new team and coupled with a new coach, the Cowgirls weren’t too sure what to expect from the Lady Bobcats.  These concerns were quickly allayed during the opening hitting of the matches.  Playing the full lineup for SW the first time this season, the Cowgirls took an early lead on all courts.  Megan Whalen and Sam Hamrick were the first two off with decisive 0 and 1 / 2 and 0 respectively – [Shorthand for : 6-0, 6-1……6-2, 6-0]  Tying for the quickest matches of the season thus far, there are many more matches to settle who wins this honor this season.

Katelyn Lein bach and Mai Vo were the next two off followed shortly by Ellen Druebbisch.  1 and 1, 0 and 0, 1 and 0.  Having clinched the victory, Kyra was able to handle the errant but lucky shots of her opponent and finish her out 3 and 1.

Keeping Druebbisch and Vo for #1 dubs, I played up Kristen Taylor and Gretchen Cross at #2 dubs and Zakeyia Clarke/Abby Lowe court 3 dubs. 

Druebbisch/Vo had no issues taking care of business on court 1, 8-0.  Clarke and Lowe came off smiling and victorious, 8-1.  Taylor and Cross, though dropping 3, pulled ahead and never looked back, 8-3.

Please note Glenn’s Lady Bobcats are a very capable team, but one that is still growing in their individual skills.  The Cowgirls will drop out two of the top six when we challenge again in two weeks for a more competitive match.

Cowgirls improve to 5-4 overall and begin the conference season 1-0.
