KERNERSVILLE MEDICAL CENTER CLASSIC AT NWGHS (SOUTHERN GUILFORD): 35

The Cowboys headed over to Northwest Guilford to face off against the Storm of Southern Guilford in the Kernersville Medical Center Shootout. It was a change of pace for both teams as this game tipped off at 4:30. The Cowboys are coming off a convincing victory over city rival Andrews, while the Storm is coming off a tough loss to Asheboro. The game opened up with a Storm 3 pointer which gave Southern their only lead for the day. Southwest responded with a 3 pointer of their own. That was the beginning of a 14-0 run that lasted the opening 4 minutes of the game. Speed, defense, steals, and layups allowed for a dominating performance. Southern was only able to score a couple more times in the quarter as the opening frame ended at 28-9. The second quarter wasn't to be any better for the Storm however. The frame opened with a 10-0 run for the Cowboys. Once again, right around the 4:14 mark the Storm was able to score, but that was all they could muster in the quarter. From there, Southwest ended the half on an 11-0 run ending the half at 49-11. The second half allowed for the full Cowboy roster to get game action. The pace slowed, but the Cowboys were in control from start to finish as they got good contributions from the entire roster and cruised to an 80-35 victory. The Storm was led by Terrell Farmer with 9 points. Southwest was led by DJ Chamblee with 21, 7 Reb, 2 Stl, KJ Langley with 12, 2 Stl, and Kam Langley with 10, 4 Rebs. Next up for the Cowboys are the Bengals from GDS tomorrow at 6 pm.
