To close out the pre-christmas portion of the schedule, the Cowboys hit the road to square off against the Dudley Panthers. It was just over a week ago that these two teams faced one another. Southwest was able to dominate the Panthers in convincing fashion 84-37. Dudley was looking to put on a better show for their home crowd, and the visiting Cowboys wanted a repeat performance to keep their winning streak going. Dudley is coming off of a victory over Cummings, while the Cowboys are fresh off another romp, their latest victim being the Pirates of Page High School 83-51. The game was a heavyweight dog fight with each teams trading blows. The opening 2 1/2 minutes had each team's trading baskets. At the 515 Mark Southwest went up 7-5. Thirty seconds later the Cowboys went up 9-5, but the Panthers responded with a 3 pointer making it 9-8. Dudley didn't stop there, they even took the lead at 10-9 at the 4:20 mark. It took a couple of possessions, but the Cowboys reclaimed the lead for good at 11-10 with 3:40 to play in the opening frame. The ugly and choppy first quarter ended at 17-12 in favor of the visiting Cowboys. The second quarter was still choppy and foul filled, but Southwest was able to take advantage of the pace and turnovers, out scoring the Panthers 25-11 in the frame to take the game into halftime at 42-23.  He second half opened up with two 3 pointers by Keyshaun Langley within 20 seconds of each other. It was indicative of the defensive pressure and easy baskets that helped the Cowboys push the gas pedal which ballooned the lead. The Panthers got a bucket right before the end of the frameZ The quarter ended at 73-41. The fourth quarter again opened up with a spurt by the Cowboys. The margin hit 86-46, and the running clock ran out on the Panthers. Southwest cruises to a 90-56 victory. Dudley was led by Josh Hopkins with 16 points. Southwest was paced once again by 5 guys in double figures.
