The Cowboys hit the road tonight for a Piedmont Triad 3A Conference clash against the Hornets of Western Guilford. The Cowboys are looking to keep the momentum going after picking up back to back last second wins. Southwest was looking to sweep the season series and keep the Hornets winless in the conference, while Western was looking to battle hard in front of their home crowd. After a sloppy opening minute, the Cowboys made a basket, but the Hornets responded with a 3 pointer and it was 3-2. Seven seconds later it was 5-3, and seventy seconds later it was 13-3. The rest of the frame was sloppy and evenly played as it closed with the Cowboys up 20-8. Southwest continued with the sloppy and unmotivated play and the Hornets took advantage. The third frame had the Cowboys show a little life and scored the first nine points to push it to 40-26 at the 5:54 mark. The Hornets stopped the bleeding, but a series of thunderous dunks by Christian Martin kept the momentum in favor of the Cowboys. The Hornets closed the frame with another three pointer and it was 54-37.
