The Southwest Cowboys varsity baseball team hosted the East Davidson Eagles in another frigid early season non-conference game on Tuesday night.  Kyle Blendinger’s pitching and solid team defense limited the Eagle offense to just one run and 3 hits in a 9-1 victory for the Cowboys.  Blendinger struck out 11 batters in five innings to record the win.  Sean McIntosh only needed 13 pitches to close out the Eagles in the last 2 innings. 

Neither Jacob Edwards nor Kyle Blendinger could be kept off the base paths as they both collected 2 hits and drew two walks for perfect games at the plate.  Edwards recorded a triple and scored 3 runs while Blendinger knocked in three runs.  Isaiah Hairston earned three RBI’s by clearing the bases with a huge double in the 6-run third inning.  Mason Chu recorded the other Cowboy hit.

Through 5 games, the Cowboys have only committed 2 errors and Cowboy pitchers have recorded 52 strikeouts on the way to a perfect 5-0 record.  Their next game is a rematch at Morehead High School on Thursday, March 16th at 5pm.
