The Southwest Cowboys varsity baseball team hosted East Forsyth in an epic battle of conference heavy weights on Wednesday night.  As has been the case in most games this season great pitching and solid defense paved the way for another victory, 3-2, for the Cowboys.  The game was tight throughout as East Forsyth uses the same formula with pitching and defense to keep the game close.  Kyle Blendinger proved to be the difference on the mound and at the plate.  In the bottom of the fifth inning, Blendinger broke a 2-2 tie by crushing a double to the left field fence, stole 3^rd base and then scored on an errant throw.  He slammed the door on the Eagles in the seventh inning by striking out two batters and then making a diving stab of a ground ball trying to squeeze by and then throwing g the runner out from his knees.

On the mound, Blendinger finished the game with eight strikeouts while allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and no walks.  At the plate, he collected two hits, an RBI and a run scored.  Jacob Edwards, Tommy Zente, Garrison Thornton, and AJ Allen collected the other Cowboy hits on the night.

The Cowboys next game is another conference matchup with Northwest High School tonight (Thursday, 3/30) at 7pm.  The game will be played at home.
