The Southwest Cowboys varsity baseball team travelled to Western Guilford to take on an improved Hornets baseball team in non-conference action on Wednesday night.  Going into the sixth inning with a 4-1 lead, the Cowboys exploded for seven runs in the inning fueled by four hits and 2 walks.  A strong team effort on the mound ensured this one was a blowout as the final tally ended at 11-1.

Colin Busick, Sean McIntosh, and Tommy Zente held the hornets to 1 run as their seven hits were spread over six innings.  Busick picked up his first win of the season.  Jacob Edwards had a strong performance at the plate picking up 3 hits while Kyle Blendinger and Isaiah Hairston each had 2 hits of their own.  The remaining Cowboy hits came from Zente, Garrison Thornton, Mason Chu, and AJ Allen.  In all, the Cowboys offense produced 11 hits and collected five walks on their way to improve their season record to 10-2.

The Cowboys next game is a conference matchup at home with Northwest High School tonight (Thursday, 3/30) at 7pm.
