Timely hitting and solid pitching lead the Southwest Cowboys varsity baseball team to another victory in pool play of the BobbyMurray invitational tournament on Friday night.  The Cowboys defeated Broughton high school 7-1 to advance to Saturday nights championship game at Millbrook high school at 8pm.

Jacob Edwards struck out 5 and allowed only 4 hits in 6 innings to earn his sixth win of the season.  Sean McIntosh pitched the seventh inning to finish off the Capitals from Broughton.   The Cowboys jumped on the Capitals early by scoring 4 runs with two outs in the first inning.  The onslaught was fueled by five consecutive hits from the middle of the Cowboy lineup.  Garrison Thornton started it off witha  single and advanced to third on a Capital throwing error.  That was followed by consecution RBI singles by Kyle Blendinger, Isaiah Hairston, Mason Chu and Paul Bullock.  Edwards and Thornton both collect two hits on the day and Paul Bullock had two RBI’s.  The other Cowboy hit came from Tommy Zente.
