TRINITY HS @ FINCH FIELD HITOMS: 8
Southwest collected 9 hits, and used 4 pitchers by committee to defeat Trinity at Finch Field Saturday afternoon. Cowboys jumped out to an early 8-2 lead after 2 innings, scoring 6 in the 2nd, expanded the lead to 12-2 in the 5th, then held off a late rally to complete the comfortable win 12-8. Patrick Callaghan led the Cowboy offense , going 3 for 4, with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Hunter Pace also had 2 hits, 3 RBI and a run scored. Matt Christy started the game on the mound and went 3 solid innings, Jose Perez pitched 2 innings and Blake Blackport pitched 1 inning of middle relief, before Mitchell Peck closed the 7th striking out the side. Pending weather this week, JV starts conference play at rival Ragsdale Tuesday at 5:30.
